Packing Services Bristol

Rapid Removals has offered packing services across Bristol since 2010, covering house moves, flat moves, and office relocations. We offer three options: full packing, partial packing, and materials-only supply. All materials are included in the quote. You won't be charged separately for boxes or tape on move day.

The Three Packing Options

Our team packs everything in your property, working room by room to a labelled plan. We arrive the day before your move (or on move day for smaller properties), pack every room, load the van, transport your contents, and unload at the new address. Optional unpacking is available.

What's included:

- Boxes (double-walled for heavy items, standard for general contents)

- Bubble wrap, packing paper, and foam padding

- Wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes

- Fragile labels and room-by-room labelling

- Furniture disassembly and reassembly where needed

What's not included: loft, garage, or outbuilding clearance (separate service); item disposal (we don't remove unwanted items).

Full packing suits families and households where time is short, where high-value or fragile items need professional wrapping, or where the volume of contents makes self-packing impractical before move day.

Partial Packing

You pack the rooms you're comfortable with. We handle the rest: the fragile items, the awkward shapes, the things people tend to leave until last and then rush. This is the option most people overlook when they're comparing packing services, and it often works out better in practice than either extreme.

Partial packing suits customers who want to keep control of personal or sensitive items but don't want to risk glassware, china, artwork, or electronics being rushed into boxes the night before the move.

Materials Supply Only

If you're packing yourself, we supply the materials: boxes, tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, wardrobe boxes, and fragile labels. Everything is included in the quote; nothing is charged separately on move day.

This option suits customers doing a phased move, those with extra time before move day, or anyone who prefers to pack personal items themselves.

Is It Worth Paying for Movers to Pack?

This is one of the questions that comes up most often when people are comparing Bristol removal quotes, and most company pages don't answer it honestly. Here is a straight answer.

Time. A two-person professional team packs a three-bedroom house in around four to six hours. Most people doing it themselves take two to three days, often while still living in the property and managing work and childcare around it.

Protection. Professional packing uses the right materials for each item type. Double-walled boxes for books and kitchen equipment, individual wrapping for fragile items, corner protection for frames and mirrors, wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes. The difference shows up in the unboxing, not in the loading.

Insurance and liability. If you pack your own boxes and something breaks in transit, the liability position changes. Items packed by the removal company's team are covered under Goods in Transit insurance. Items you've packed yourself may not be covered to the same level, depending on the policy. Ask at the quote stage if this matters to your move.

When self-packing is genuinely fine. If you're moving books, clothes, non-fragile kitchenware, and items without sentimental or financial value, self-packing is a reasonable choice, particularly if materials are supplied. The cases where it tends to go wrong are glassware, electronics, artwork, and anything irreplaceable.

Fragile and Specialist Items

Artwork, mirrors, large glass items, china, and delicate electronics need more than a standard box. We wrap each fragile item individually in bubble wrap and packing paper, use corner protection on frames and mirrors, and label each package clearly. Fragile packing can be booked as a standalone service or added to a full or partial booking.

For TVs, we use manufacturer-style padding and dedicated TV boxes where the screen size requires it. For wardrobes and large furniture, we disassemble, wrap panels and glass, and reassemble at the destination.

Packing Materials

Every job uses the same materials regardless of option:

- Double-walled cardboard boxes for heavy or fragile contents
- Standard cardboard boxes for general room contents
- Bubble wrap and packing paper for individual item wrapping
- Foam padding for particularly delicate items
- Wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes (no folding required)
- Tape, fragile labels, and room-destination labels

All materials are included in the quote. No extra charges on move day.

Packing for Storage

Items going into storage need to be packed differently from items going directly to a new address. Boxes need to be more uniformly sized for stacking, labels need to show contents clearly (not just room names), and fragile items need more robust wrapping for a longer hold period.

If you're packing items for a storage period between move-out and move-in, tell us at the quote stage so we can adjust the packing plan. For more information, see our storage service.

Unpacking

Unpacking is available as an add-on to any full packing booking. Our team places items in the correct rooms, unpacks boxes to a room-by-room plan, and removes all packing materials from the property. Many customers don't realise this is an option until they're surrounded by boxes at the new address.

How It Works

1. Free quote: Tell us your move date, property size, and what you need packed. We'll come back with upfront, itemised pricing.
2. Pre-move survey: For larger moves, we survey the property before quoting so the figure we give you reflects your actual inventory.
3. Pack day: Our team arrives at the agreed time, works room by room, and labels every box clearly.
4. Load and transport: Packed items are loaded securely into our insured, CAZ-compliant vans.
5. Unload and optional unpack: We unload at your new address. If you've booked unpacking, we place items in the correct rooms and remove packing materials
